Local, Naturally Raised Beef

Our cows are pasture-raised with plenty of space to graze. We supplement their diet with a mix of our homegrown corn silage and hay to keep them warm through the winters and ensure the most flavorful, tender meat—you can cut Backus Farms steaks with a fork!

Land Stewards

Our farm’s cropping system is verified through the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP), and we are working toward verification of our livestock and farmstead systems as well. These voluntary verification processes are one way we show our respect and care for the land. Environmental stewardship is something we’re passionate about, and we take pride in giving the ground back what we take from it.
